Wayanad Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday filed a nomination from Wayanad of Kerala. After this he also did a road show. It also included Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Wayanad will go to polls on April 23. NDA has nominated Tushar Velapalli from here. Rahul is contesting Lok Sabha elections for the first time with Amethi and the second seat. The Congress has declared the names of 349 candidates till date.

Wayanad’s boundary connects three states

Congress leader AK Antony told that Rahul has chosen Wayanad apart from Amethi, there are several reasons for this. One is that this seat is very important in cultural and geographical terms. Second, it combines the boundaries of Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. BJP again withdraws Smriti Irani in Amethi

Rahul has been winning three consecutive elections since 2004 in Amethi Lok Sabha seat of Uttar Pradesh. BJP has fielded Union Minister Smriti Irani against Rahul in Amethi this time too. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul defeated them with 1.07 lakh votes. However, this difference of Rahul’s victory was much lower than in 2009. Then Rahul won by 3.70 lakh votes.
