Kalifullah, who started advocacy on August 20, 1975, was appointed Permanent Judge in the Madras High Court in 2000. In February 2011, he became judge of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court and was appointed Acting Chief Justice two weeks later. In September 2012, he was appointed Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court. After that, on April 2, 2012, he became the judge of the Supreme Court and retired on July 22, 2016.
